About us
All about the Manning Knight Riders group.
Welcome to the Manning Knight Riders (MKR), a cycling group based in Manning, Western Australia. Our group was formed over a few years as a bunch of primary school dads and their friends became acquainted over their shared passion for cycling. Today, we are an incorporated group with many members from Manning and beyond, and from all walks of life who share a love for cycling.
Our group is known for our weekly “Round the River” night ride every Wednesday, where we cycle along the picturesque Swan River to Fremantle and back to Manning, and consists of three “Laps”. A highlight of the evening is the “Third Lap,” which is the last stage of our Wednesday night ride. Traditionally held at a different member’s house each week, we now gather at the Manning Rippers Footy Club complex for a post-ride decompress. The Third Lap is a great way to end the night, where we share various locally sourced craft beers found by members during the week. It’s a great opportunity to socialize and connect with other members while enjoying a brew or two.
Our group has many other rides and events that are open to all members throughout the year. We regularly organize group rides to explore new routes and challenge ourselves. We also participate in charity rides, sportives and other community events such as the Manning Laneway Festival.
We welcome cyclists of all levels and experience. Whether you’re an experienced rider or just starting, you’ll find a supportive community here.
Why the Knight Riders?
The weekly night cycling event resulted in some members calling the group the Manning Knight Riders (because most members are old enough to have been fans of the ’80s TV series in their formative years). The name stuck, and the group was formed.

MKR have setup a containers for change account, and we welcome any donation, no matter how small. Any money donated will go towards clubhouse rental, organization fees and upkeep, domain registration, and more. Running an organization isn’t cheap, and this group wouldn’t exist without the kindness and generosity of it’s members and friends who each play a part in supporting the group.
“We wish to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land we are riding on, the Whadjuk (Perth region) people. We wish to acknowledge and respect their continuing culture and the contribution they make to the life of this city and this region.”
